4 months later no colour!

Well here I am, no colour. It is wonderful to not have to bother attending to regrowth every 3 weeks. I did find when I went for the final haircut to remove all the colour that there are EVEN “colour” products for white hair. According to my hairdresser white hair is bleached yellow by the sun, smoke and other pollutants. to keep white hair looking bright you use a product called toner.

Farewell to hair “colour”

Filed under: Growing old gracefully — janew13number3 @ 3:41 pm

I started “colouring” or dyeing my hair 12 years ago, when I was 40 at my daughter’s request. She did not want a semi grey haired mother, no matter how young her spirit and skin were. For a few years now I have been toying with ceasing this beauty treatment. Every time I run out of “colour” I go through the will I/won’t I argument.

About 6 months I decided enough. My hair grows very quickly, I asked my hairdresser to cut it very short and have kept cutting it every 5 weeks. I stopped wearing a bathing cap in the pool and stopped using special shampoo and conditioner that is for coloured hair. As the colour faded to a soft pink, mixed in with 70% grey and 30% natural dark brown even total strangers approached me in the street to say how much they loved the colour!!!

My role models have been Jamie-Lee Curtis, Helen Mirren, Judi Dench and Emmi-Lou Harris. I feel confident to age gracefully. I do not know what colour my fringe is going to me as there is still lots of pink there. One more haircut and all the colour will be gone.
